Approx. 10 x 40HQ of office chairs for Melbourne, across repeat orders

One product, many parts, several orders from 2014 to 2017
FBM Sourcing supplied office chairs to Melbourne, Australia across several orders between 2014 and 2017. Added up, the orders came to an estimated 10 x 40HQ containers of office chairs and chair components. The scope covered mesh office chairs, task chair components, chair bases, gas lifts, armrests, seat mechanisms, packaged seats, backrests, hardware and export cartons. Our team handled supplier coordination, production follow-up, inspection before shipment, packing review and container loading supervision for each order.
An office chair order is really an order for many parts that have to arrive together: backs, seats, bases, gas lifts, wheels, arms, screws, mechanisms and cartons. If a supplier only focuses on quantity, the client may later face missing accessories, weak packing, inconsistent assembly or unclear carton information. On repeat orders the task grows, because every container has to match the client’s order records. That is why the work combined whole-chair review with detail checking, and treated packing condition as part of product quality.

What went into the containers
The order was checked part group by part group, because an office chair has to be stable, adjust smoothly, take repeated daily use and arrive without missing parts.
01
01 · Finished mesh office chairs
- Mesh office chairs, checked assembled
- Seats and backrests
- Armrests
Materials and finish. Whole-chair, side and back views were checked for appearance and consistency; the inspection points were stability, height adjustment, the seat and backrest connection and the armrest parts.
Quantity. The record for these orders gives an estimated total of 10 x 40HQ across 2014–2017; it does not break quantities down by part.
02
02 · Bases, gas lifts and mechanisms
- Chair bases
- Gas lifts
- Seat mechanisms
- Wheels, screws and hardware
Materials and finish. Underside mechanism checks, chair base inspections, gas lift details and measurement checks: base assembly, height adjustment range, gas lift condition and hardware.
Quantity. Shipped within the same orders as the finished chairs; the record does not break quantities down by part.
03
03 · Packed components and export cartons
- Packaged seats and backrests
- Arm components and small parts
- Export cartons
Materials and finish. Office chairs can be damaged or lose small parts during handling, so the way individual parts were packed and prepared before loading, and the carton condition, were checked as part of product quality.
Quantity. Loaded with the chairs in each order’s containers; the record does not break quantities down by carton.

01
Supplier coordination in China
Our team communicated with the supplier, followed production status, prepared for inspection and checked whether the goods were ready for export loading. Managing supplier communication locally in China kept product expectations, inspection priorities and shipment requirements aligned for a client who could not visit the factory or warehouse before every shipment.
02
Production follow-up against the order records
After order confirmation we followed production and packing preparation. For repeated 40HQ shipments to Melbourne, timing, quantity control and packing consistency mattered because every container had to match the client’s order records: were the correct chair models and components ready, were the gas lift and base parts present, and were the goods packed for international transport.
03
Inspection when production was finished
Each order was inspected by our own team at the factory, once, when production was finished and before shipment. The inspection covered whole-chair, side and back views, underside mechanisms, chair bases, gas lifts, measurement checks, packed seats and carton condition, because one product photo cannot show that an order is ready. The photo record gave the client a clear basis for approving each shipment.
04
Container loading and records
Loading was supervised after inspection, because damage or quantity problems can still happen if loading is not controlled. The loading records show container interior views, cartons and packed goods positioned inside the container and protected items, so the client could confirm that the goods were physically loaded and that each shipment moved forward as planned.
What the client held before the containers left China
Before the goods left China, the client had the inspection photos and the loading records: the chairs assembled and checked, the bases, gas lifts and mechanisms looked at in detail, the parts packed, and the cartons inside the container. That visual record is what made repeated 40HQ office chair shipments easier to review from Melbourne, without visiting the factory or warehouse before every shipment.

Questions about these orders
What did these Melbourne office chair orders include?
Mesh office chairs and chair components — task chair components, chair bases, gas lifts, armrests, seat mechanisms, packaged seats, backrests, hardware and export cartons — shipped from China to Melbourne across several orders between 2014 and 2017, an estimated 10 x 40HQ containers in total.
What was checked on the office chairs before shipment?
Each order was inspected by our own team at the factory when production was finished and before shipment: whole-chair, side and back views, stability, base assembly, height adjustment range, gas lift condition, the seat and backrest connection, armrest parts, hardware, measurements, the packing of individual parts and carton condition.
Why does packing get checked as closely as the chair?
Because office chairs can be damaged or lose small parts during handling. Missing accessories, weak packing, inconsistent assembly or unclear carton information are problems a client may otherwise only face later, so the way seats, backrests, arm components and small parts were packed, and the condition of the export cartons, were part of the inspection.
Which standard were these chairs tested to?
The record for these orders does not name one, so we do not state it here. For current Australian and New Zealand projects, height-adjustable swivel chairs are tested to AS/NZS 4438, and certification is issued by AFRDI; we check the certificate for the specific model before we quote.
Can FBM Furniture run the same process for our office project?
Yes. Send your chair and furniture list with quantities, the specification or a reference photo for each model, and where the project is, so we check the standards your market requires. Where your project fits our service, we can quote one product group first as a reference; if quality and terms fit, we continue with the rest.
Have an office chair order to quote?
Send your product list and our team will review it model by model, against the standards of the market the project is in.
