Sofas, beds, wardrobes and dining sets for a new home project in Australia, 2 x 40HQ

The furniture half of a four-container order in 2018: sofas, beds, wardrobes, dining sets and accessories, checked by our team before shipment and loaded into two 40HQ containers of their own.

Project overview

Two containers of furniture, shipped separately

This new home project in Australia was supplied from China in 2018 as four 40HQ containers: two of building materials and two of furniture. This page covers the furniture containers only: sofas, beds, wardrobes, dining sets and home accessories for the living, bedroom and dining areas.

Keeping the furniture in its own batch mattered. Building materials and furniture come from different factories, are checked against different points and are loaded in different ways, so the furniture had its own supplier list, its own inspection and its own loading. For the client that meant a single contact on the China side instead of a separate conversation with each workshop.

How the order ran

How the furniture batch ran

01

Furniture suppliers matched

Living room, bedroom and dining pieces came from furniture factories, on a supplier list kept apart from the building materials side.

02

Samples and follow-up

We handled supplier visits, sample confirmation and communication with the factories on the client’s behalf, and followed each order through production.

03

One inspection after bulk production

When bulk production was finished, our own team inspected the furniture once before shipment, product group by product group. Clients are welcome to join this inspection.

04

Wrapped and loaded, 2 x 40HQ

Sofas, beds and wardrobes were wrapped piece by piece and placed in the containers to limit movement at sea, then the two furniture containers were loaded under our supervision.

After shipment

Why a separate furniture batch helped

Because the furniture had its own inspection and its own containers, the client could review it on its own photo record, and the furniture went into containers that held nothing else, checked and wrapped for the trip.

Larger residential furniture programmes are covered in our Melbourne apartment furniture case study, and our approach to residential projects is on our apartment furniture page.

Questions about this project

What furniture was in this Australian order?

Sofas, beds, wardrobes, dining sets and home accessories for a new home project, shipped in 2018 in two 40HQ containers. Two more containers carried the building materials, which are not covered here.

When was the furniture inspected?

Once, after bulk production was complete and before shipment, by our own team. Clients are welcome to join this inspection.

Why ship furniture and building materials in separate containers?

They come from different factories, are checked on different points and pack differently. Loading them as separate batches let each be inspected and approved on its own, and let the furniture be wrapped and placed to limit movement at sea.

Can FBM Furniture supply the furniture for our residential project?

Yes. Send a product list or FF&E schedule, room by room, with quantities, plus drawings or reference photos for custom pieces, and tell us where the project is. Where your project fits our service, we can quote one product group first as a reference; if quality and terms fit, we continue with the rest.

Have a residential furniture package to quote?
