Teak outdoor furniture and park benches for a municipal park in the United States

Solid teak outdoor seating, tables and park benches for a municipal park development, made in outdoor furniture workshops, checked once bulk production was complete and shipped with the park’s wider package in three 40HQ containers in 2020.

Project overview

Furniture that has to live outdoors

For a U.S. municipal park development, we sourced the outdoor furniture: solid teak chairs, dining and bistro tables, lounge seating with cushions, and park benches. The furniture travelled with the rest of the park’s supply in three 40HQ containers in 2020.

Park furniture stands in sun and rain every day and is used by the public, and much of it is fixed in place once installed. A frame that is not stable or a finish meant for indoors shows up only after installation, when putting it right is most costly. That is why the choice of workshop and the timber itself were settled before any order was placed.

What the furniture package covered

Seating, tables and benches were all solid teak, made by outdoor furniture specialists.

01

01 · Chairs and lounge seating

Materials and finish. Solid teak frames; cushions on the lounge armchairs. Frame stability and joinery were the main points at inspection.

Quantity. The record gives no count per item.

02

02 · Tables

Materials and finish. Slatted tops were looked at for finish and even spacing, and table dimensions were checked for consistency across the batch.

Quantity. Shipped as part of the same package.

03

03 · Park benches

Materials and finish. Bench frames were built in the same outdoor furniture workshops as the chairs and tables, and checked the same way.

Quantity. Packed with the rest of the furniture.

How the order ran

How the furniture was made ready

01

Workshops chosen for outdoor use

We shortlisted outdoor furniture makers that kiln-dry their timber and finish it with outdoor oils, since furniture finished like indoor cabinetry does not last a season outside.

02

Timber confirmed first

Before orders were placed, we confirmed the teak was solid plantation-grade stock, with a moisture content suited to outdoor joinery, not another hardwood stained to look like teak.

03

One inspection after bulk production

When bulk production was complete, our own team inspected the furniture once before shipment: joints, how steady each frame stood, the finish, and whether sizes matched from piece to piece. Clients are welcome to join this inspection.

04

Packed for the whole park package

Furniture went into export-grade cartons with corner protection and was loaded with the park’s other items into three 40HQ containers.

After shipment

What the site team received

The furniture reached the site packed by product and listed on the packing list, so the receiving team could check it off against the order as it came out of the containers.

More on the outdoor seating, tables and loungers we source for projects is on our outdoor furniture page, and other finished orders are in our case studies.
