Leather sofas, coffee tables, a desk set and office chairs for a residential project in the Bahamas

Loose furniture for a residential project in the Bahamas in 2018: leather sofas, wood-grain coffee tables, a desk with matching storage and a drawer pedestal, and office chairs, each checked by our team before packing.

Project overview

Loose furniture for a residential build in the Bahamas

In 2018 our team handled the loose furniture for a residential project in the Bahamas: leather sofas, a set of coffee tables, a desk with matching storage units and a mobile drawer pedestal, and office chairs. The same order also carried custom cabinetry and stone tops, which are built-in work and are not covered here.

The project team was working from another country and could not stand next to each piece before it left China. So the inspection was set up to answer what they would have checked in person: overall size, how drawers and doors run, the state of every visible surface, and whether each piece was ready to be packed for export.

Three furniture groups in one order

Seating, tables and the desk set were each photographed as whole pieces and in detail.

01

01 · Seating

Materials and finish. Sofas were measured along the frame and at the back height with a tape, and their upholstery was looked over for finish and stability. Chairs were reviewed for appearance and workmanship.

Quantity. Quantities followed the project’s list; they are not given on this page.

02

02 · Coffee tables

Materials and finish. Dark wood-grain tops over a two-tone base. Each table was photographed from several sides to show the top surface, edges and base.

Quantity. Checked piece by piece before packing.

03

03 · Desk and storage

Materials and finish. Wood-grain tops with white bodies. Drawers were opened and the tops measured with a tape; the pedestal drawers and lock were checked.

Quantity. One desk set as shown in the inspection photos.

How the order ran

From the product list to packed goods

01

Requirements into check points

The project’s product list was turned into practical check points for each piece, so the suppliers and our team knew in advance what would be looked at.

02

One contact on the China side

Our team sat between the suppliers and the project team overseas, followed progress, and reported in a format the team could use for approval.

03

One inspection after bulk production

Once bulk production was finished, our own team inspected the furniture once before shipment: whole-piece views, measurements, drawers, hardware and surfaces. Clients are welcome to join this inspection.

04

Packing and export

With the photo record approved, the goods were packed for export and prepared for shipment to the Bahamas.

After shipment

What the photo record gave the project team

The team received photos of the actual pieces, whole and in detail, taken before packing rather than catalogue images. They could compare each piece with the approved list and decide on shipment from the Bahamas with evidence in hand.

How we source seating, desks and storage for projects is on our office furniture page, and residential projects are covered on our apartment furniture page.
